Guidelines for a Professional Environment
Rules are in place to make the classroom a SAFE and fun environment to create. Following these
guidelines will make it easier and more enjoyable for all of us to enjoy the course.
#1- Respect the materials and salon/spa space. - No throwing or deliberately destroying the
classroom materials. All materials are available to you during class, flex blocks and every
lunch hour. Do not take classroom materials home, as they often are not returned once they
leave the classroom. If there is a special item you would like to take home, an arrangement could
be made.
We clean up the room ALWAYS at the end of class. The materials will go a long way if
we all put them away. Follow clean up procedures and assigned duties for the day.
#2 Ready at Bell- You should be ready with your materials, in your seat with by the
time the bell rings.
#3- Being Present in class, and when absent- Being present means actively participating in
class critiques and discussions, offering feedback to your peers, and utilizing class time to work
or research projects. It does not mean sitting on your smartphone creating Snapchats, using facebook
on your computer, skyping, texting or creating a playlist. See #4- Responsible Use of Technology.
If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what you have missed and catch up. With
Weebly it is very accessible to go online and see where the class is at every day. Unexcused
absences will be dealt with immediately.
#4 Responsible use of Technology - There are many great ways that technological devices
and advances that have made the classroom a better place. However, no smart phones will be
allowed in class unless specifically mentioned. You may use your laptop for image reference, however it
is best you leave your phone in your locker or in teacher’s phone 'hotel' on the door. We only see each
for a short so let’s make our time together safe, creative and productive.
